A live-action film adaptation of Zakken! , a slice-of-life manga created by Naho Kaminura/Monogatari Labo (story) and Pukupuku (arts), is set to release in Japan in the spring of 2026. The film's teaser trailer and poster visual have been revealed. Zakken! Live-Action Film Teaser Trailer Teaser poster visual The original manga was serialized in Shogakukan's Manga One and Ura Sunday websites and concluded in April 2023, releasing four collected volumes. The title Zakken is short for Zassou Kenkyu-bu (Weed Research Club) in Japanese, and a club with the same name actually exists at Tokyo Metropolitan Hibiya High School. The story follows Yukari (Runa Nakashima), a freshman who calls herself a “youth misfit” because she hasn't found anything to get passionate about yet. She unexpectedly meets her classmate Mimi (Miyu Oshima) — nicknamed “Dokudami-chan” — a weed enthusiast. Dokudami-chan and Yukari, who wish to revive the dormant “Weed Research Club,” scramble to bring the club back to life. The manga's story writer Naho Kaminura, who has been active mainly as a film creator since 2006, serves as director on her own screenplay.
