‘Weapons’ Was #1 at the Box Office for Second Weekend With $148 Million Worldwide

Zach Cregger’s original horror movie Weapons was #1 at the box office in its debut weekend, and a strong hold has allowed the mystery nightmare to remain #1 in its second weekend.

Weapons added another $43.4 million to its global take this past weekend, with the film’s worldwide total now sitting at a massive $148.7 million. $89 million of that total was made here in the United States, with the other $59.7 million scared up at the international box office.

This makes Zach Cregger’s Weapons the fourth highest grossing horror movie of the year so far, behind massive hits Sinners, Final Destination Bloodlines, and 28 Years Later. It’s chomping at the heels of 28 Years Later‘s $150.3 million worldwide take, so it’s a guarantee that Weapons will become the third highest grossing horror movie of 2025 in the coming days.

Variety notes, “Ticket sales for the R-rated horror film declined just 43% from its $43 million debut, an impressive hold for a genre that’s known to drastically fall after opening weekend.”

The production budget for Weapons was a reported $38 million, so this one is going to be massively profitable for Warner Bros. Stay tuned for more on the film’s box office performance.

In Weapons, “When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.” Dive deeper into the mystery on MaybrookMissing.com.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “This is a horror movie that trusts its audience, while delivering on practical effects-driven violence, methodically employed scares, and a biting sense of humor that’ll leave you squealing & squirming in equal measure.”

The next film from Zach Cregger is a fresh take on the Resident Evil franchise, with Cregger directing the film for theatrical release on September 18, 2026. Filming gets underway soon.
