The official website for the Wakakozake live-action TV drama series announced today that the next 12-episode ninth season is set to premiere on BS TV Tokyo on October 1, 2025. The previous eighth season aired from January to March of this year. The TV drama, based on Chie Shinkyu's manga series about a young office lady enjoying the finer points of dining alone, started airing in Japan in January 2015. Rina Takeda ( High Kick Girl! , KG -Karate Girl- ), who had previously appeared mostly in martial arts action films, has been playing the title character Wakako Murasaki since the first season and it has become the most iconic tole in her career. "Season 8 aired in January this year, and I am delighted that we are already welcoming Season 9 so soon," said Takeda. "This time, I visited Hokkaido and Fukushima, and even stopped by a zoo.
