‘Videoheaven’ Trailer – Maya Hawke Narrates Alex Ross Perry’s Video Store Doc

Socio-cultural hub, consumer mecca, and source of existential dread; the video rental store forever changed the way we interact with movies.

10 years in the making, watch the trailer for Videoheaven from writer-director Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell, Queen of Earth) below.

Narrated by “Stranger Things” breakout Maya Hawke, the documentary culls footage from hundreds of sources — ranging from TV commercials to blockbuster films — to tell the story of an industry’s glorious, confusing, novel, sometimes seedy, but undeniably seismic impact on American movie culture.

The 173-minute film is edited by Clyde Folley and produced by Perry, Andrew Adair, Jake Perlin, and Daniel Herbert.

Videoheaven opens at the IFC Center in New York City on July 2 and at Vidiots in Los Angeles on August 6 as part of a theatrical rollout via Cinema Conservancy.
