Updated Steam Next Fest Demo Now Available for ‘Bloodthief’ [Trailer]

Solo developer Blargis has delivered on their updated demo for their ultra-fast melee dungeon-runner Bloodthief for Steam Next Fest. In addition, seeing as you’ve “gotta go fast” with the game, Blargis is also giving speedrunners a chance to show their stuff in a little competition.

As noted before, the demo update features an additional level, weapon, and three secret artifacts required to unlock that weapon. The demo takes 1 hour to complete, or up to 20 hours to 100% for those curious crypt-dwellers to find all powerups, enemy types and more.

And to celebrate, Blargis has announced a Bloodthief speedrunning competition. To prove you’ve got the fastest fangs out there, you can participate in the event by completing a “Full Game Inbounds” run between now and June 16 at 11:59PM PST.

The top 5 winners will receive Steam gift cards each, from $100 USD to $25 USD, while everyone who submits a run via Speedrun.com will receive a Discord role and an in-game leaderboard badge once the full version has been released. More info can be found on the game’s Speedrun.com page here.

Inspired by the likes of Ghostrunner, Ultrakill, Quake and Hotline Miami, Bloodthief has you speedrunning through a medieval dark fantasy world, where movement and combat are deeply intertwined. You will need to use both creatively to parkour through hazardous dungeons filled with enemies and traps, as well as secrets, shortcuts, powerups, and treasures. In order to do so, you’ll need to do the aforementioned drinking of your foes’ blood to fuel your abilities.
