Two Michael Myers actors are stepping out of the shadows to kick off October, and they’re doing it to spotlight causes that matter. The Horror Show and Needlessly Nostalgic podcasts have come together to conjure a two-part Michael Myers special featuring conversations with James Jude Courtney and Tyler Mane on their time in the role and the causes they care about.
James Jude Courtney (Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends) joins The Horror Show’s Sean Miller to discuss his collaboration with Jamie Lee Curtis and David Gordon Green, the metaphysical energy of wearing Michael Myers’ mask, his stunt work, fight sequences, and reflects on horror fandom and what it means to carry the legacy of Michael Myers. Most importantly, James is raising awareness for a charity close to his heart: Jay’s Juniors.
Jay’s Juniors is a nonprofit based in Michigan that focuses on giving children with chronic, terminal, or life-altering illnesses and their families hope and magical moments. Founded by radio host Jay Towers and run by volunteers, the program describes its mission as a hope to give these families temporary escape from daily struggles through carefully curated events and experiences. James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle have both worked with Jay on fundraising events.
When speaking about the organization’s purpose, James tells The Horror Show, “The focus is not only on the kid that’s sick, but it’s on the siblings too. When a kid is so ill, all that focus and attention goes out to the sick child, but the other siblings need love and attention too. This is all about bringing the family together, letting the entire family enjoy themselves and relieve themselves from the stress and anxiety of their everyday life. It’s a really beautiful thing.”
The program allows children and families to be nominated by members of their communities. The current deadline to submit a family is Oct. 19, 2025. Donate to Jay’s Juniors here.
Tyler Mane (Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II) joins the Needlessly Nostalgic podcast to talk with hosts Tyler Nichols and Lance Vlcek about his time behind the mask, the brutal bathroom brawl with Big Joe Grizzly, working with Rob Zombie, and what it meant to embody Michael Myers as a force. Most importantly, Tyler spotlights his graphic novel The Last Spartan: Red Tape and its partnership with DeliverFund, supporting the fight to end human trafficking.
DeliverFund describes itself as a nonprofit that supplies law enforcement with cutting-edge technology and training at no cost, helping officers track traffickers, rescue victims, and improve prevention and prosecution efforts.
Tyler tells Needlessly Nostalgic, “From being at all of these conventions, you hear people’s stories. Just about every convention I go to, there’s at least one, two or three people that it has personally affected. Whether they’re a first responder or if they know somebody that was just about taken or have been missing for years. So, you know, it is getting the response that people need to be aware of this cause it is happening everywhere.”
You can donate to DeliverFund here.
Profoundly impacted by these encounters, Tyler and co-writer Christopher Priest created The Last Spartan: Red Tape, which expands a gritty revenge story into a fight against human trafficking. You can purchase his new graphic novel here, with a portion of its proceeds supporting the charity. For the fans of Halloween, an alternative cover of Red Spartan features an homage to Rob Zombie’s remake.
Each podcast asks their respective ‘Michael’ a series of rapid-fire questions about their time in the role, from process and favorite kills and whether there were victims they felt sympathy for. Check out both episodes to hear how Tyler Mane and James Jude Courtney answered their set of Myers-themed questions.
Welcome October with Needlessly Nostalgic (listen here) and The Horror Show (listen here) as they speak to two of the few who have stepped into the mask of Michael Myers and share ways you can help support the causes they care about.
