Steelkrill Studio is wading into a busy Halloween season this year, announcing their WWI horror game Trenches VR will be launching on October 22. Coming to PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2/3, and SteamVR, the release date announcement coincided with the release of a new trailer.
In Trenches VR, you’re not fighting against enemy soldiers – but against something far worse. Trapped in a nightmarish vision of the Great War behind enemy lines, your only wish is to return home. Players must navigate the claustrophobic trenches, eerie bunkers, and collapsing landscapes as they struggle to survive horrifying creatures lurking in the dark. And just because you passed somewhere already, doesn’t mean that nothing is really there. The world of Trenches VR may change with your sanity.
Armed with nothing but your instincts and a whistle that serves as both your lifeline and your curse—you’ll use sound to guide your way to freedom. Plan your next move as if it could very well be your last. Peek around corners, watch your footsteps and be always on the move. However, be aware that the creatures lurking in the darkness are attracted to every sound that you make. And thanks to Trenches VR making use of your mic, enemies can hear your breathing, whispers, and cries for help. They’ll also be able to hear if you walk on wood, or if you break any bottles.
