The official website for Tokyo Anime Award Festival (TAAF) announced today that its next 2026 edition, Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026 (TAAF2026) , is set to be held from March 13 (Fri) to 16 (Mon), 2026, in the Ikebukuro area, Tokyo. RELATED: Look Back, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Win Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2025 Anime Of The Year Awards As an independent and developed version of Tokyo Anime Award , which was held as part of the Tokyo International Anime Fair from 2002 to 2013, TAAF has been held since 2014 by Tokyo Anime Award Festival Executive Committee, the Association of Japanese Animations, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. TAAF will have its 13th edition in 2026. The aim of the festival reads: "fostering new talent, promoting the animation culture and industry, and contributing to the tourism of Tokyo by sharing the city’s charms under the slogan 'TOKYO is the HUB of contemporary ANIMATION.'" The festival has screened anime works with high quality and originality from around the world in Tokyo. A highlight video summarizing this year's TAAF 2025 is now available on the festival's official YouTube channel . Additionally, the Competition section is now open for submissions. The entry requirement is that the animation work must be completed on, or after, January 1, 2024. The competition is open to all nationalities, professionals and amateurs. Applications will be accepted until October 31 for short animations under 30 minutes and until November 10 for feature-length animations over 60 minutes.
