The official YouTube channel for Jel , a member of VTuber boy band Strawberry Prince , has posted a main trailer for the upcoming anime feature film Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! "Baka to Smartphone to Romance to" ("Toi-san Wants to Enjoy Her Youth! 'Fools, Smartphones and Romance'), which is based on his short web anime series. "Baka to Smartphone to Romance to" is set to release in Japan on July 18, 2025. Mankyu ( The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague ) directs the film at studio Seven Arcs, with a script by Yoichi Kato ( THE IDOLM@STER Million Live! ), character designs by Akemi Kobayashi ( Love After World Domination ) and music by Hiromi Mizutani ( Food for the Soul ). The story of Toi-san follows Akane Toi, a high school girl who is known by her classmates as “Toi-san”. Toi-san intends to have an ordinary high school experience, but on her first day of school she meets a handsome boy named Jel, and although Toi-san assumes that her school life is about to turn into a romance, instead Jel and the rest of her classmates are so wacky and eccentric that every day turns into a comedy complete with stand-up routines and skits! In the film, Toi-san ends up joining the mysterious “Youth Romance Club”, which seeks to uncover “youthful” and “romantic” things.
