Toei Animation turns 70 next year, and the studio plans to celebrate in a big way. ETERNA Animation has launched as Toei’s own brand dedicated to original in-house productions, the first of which will be an anime film titled FOXING: Kitsuné-tsuki . The official website is live for the feature along with official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts. Takeru Shinozuka makes his commercial directorial debut with FOXING: Kitsuné-tsuki , which will premiere as a work in progress at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 before a full release in 2026. Yoshihide Moriyama ( ELEMON , Ring ni Kakero ) produces for Toei Animation. The story is said to explore “universal themes such as isolation, fantasy, and the confrontation of the self in contemporary society.” Shinozuka has handled direction, storyboard and character designs in varying capacities over the course of his tenure at Toei Animation. Some of his animation credits include anime ranging from Dragon Ball Super: Broly to One Piece Stampede and Digimon Ghost Game . Here’s more of what Toei Animation has planned with ETERNA: The Brand’s Promise: "We create free and unforgettable animation that stays in your heart.” The brand name "ETERNA" (meaning "eternal") reflects Toei Animation's aspiration to create works that linger deeply in the hearts and memories of viewers. Guided by five core creative values—Originality, Exclusivity, Artistry, Quality, and Decency—the brand seeks to deliver new stories, spotlight new voices, and explore expressive new forms of animation with artistic freedom and lasting emotional impact.
