A brand-new trailer released for The Summer Hikaru Died anime today announced a July 5 at 24:55 JST (effectively July 6 at 0:55) premiere date for Japanese television and previewed the supernatural horror series' opening song, "Saikai" by Vaundy. Additionally, an advance screening of the first episode will be held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku in Tokyo on June 29, with cast members Chiaki Kobayashi (Yoshiki), Shuichiro Umeda (Hikaru) and Chikahiro Kobayashi (Tanaka) and director Ryohei Takeshita in attendance. The series topped Kono Manga ga Sugoi!'s list for male readers in 2023, and has also been ranked/nominated for the Manga Taisho award, the Tsutaya Comic Awards, an Eisner Award and the Next Manga Award. Ryohei Takeshita ( Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night ) directs the anime adaptation at studio CygamesPictures and serves as series composer, while Yuichi Takahashi ( Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song- ) serves as character designer and chief animation director and Masanobu Hiraoka serves as "Dorodoro" animator ( Chainsaw Man episode director).
