As the title of upcoming film The Obsessed (known as Toritsukareotoko in Japanese) implies, protagonist Giuseppe gets wrapped up in all sorts of pursuits. But what and how many? A sample of a new song from the film, "Giuseppe's Theme," shows us! Masaya Sano, who hails from male idol unit Ae! Group, performs the upbeat song as Giuseppe. Sano notes that this song was the first part of the recording process, meaning there was some "trial and error" as he pinned down Giuseppe's voice. Ahead of that, it will screen as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival , which kicks off on October 27. Wataru Takahashi, known for his directorial works for the Crayon Shin-chan films (22nd, 24th, 26th, and 29th), serves as director on a screenplay by Naoyuki Miura. Masatsugu Arakawa designs the characters, and Shin-Ei Animation works on anime production. Shinji Ishii's original Toritsukareotoko novel was published by Billiken Shuppan in 2001 and was later published in a bunko edition by Shinchosha in 2006. TIFF describes the story like so: Giuseppe jumps from obsession to obsession ― singing, embroidery, private investigation ― until he meets Pechka, a quiet balloon seller.
