Pony Canyon released the first seven minutes of The Last Blossom on their YouTube channel ahead of the film’s premiere on October 10. The opening of the film, which is the latest work from ODDTAXI creator Baku Kinoshita, showed the main character thinking back on the past while the opening theme song “Moving Still Life” by cero played over a fireworks display. The Tokyo International Film Festival revealed that The Last Blossom will screen as part of its 2025 lineup. The Last Blossom Anime Film First Seven Minutes Trailer The Tokyo International Film Festival is being held in Japan’s capital city from October 27 to November 5. The Last Blossom is part of its animation lineup, which also includes the 4K version of Angel’s Egg , Yasuhiro Aoki’s Cha0 , and Shoji Kawamori’s Labyrinth , among many other of the latest anime films from Japan and around the world. All films are screened with English subtitles. Animation creator and game art designer Michinoku-toge provides the concept art. Anime production company CLAP ( Pompo: The Cinéphile ) works on planning and production. The Last Blossom screened as part of the official selection of Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025, which describes the story as such: Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving life in prison, is on the verge of a lonely death in his single cell. A talking Housenka flower says to him, "What a rotten life you had." Akutsu starts reflecting on his past. Summer 1986. Akutsu is living with Nana and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of Housenkas.
