The Cat and the Dragon Anime Reveals New Trailer, Key Art and Cast

The upcoming TV anime based on the fantasy light novel series The Cat and the Dragon published a treasure trove of new information today, including a new trailer, new key art and additional cast members. The series broadcasts in Japan beginning in July 2026. Takarajimasha also publishes a print version of the series in Japan, with nine volumes released to date. Amara writes and Mai Okuma illustrates the series, and Izumi Sasaki provides the artwork for the manga adaptation (also published by Takarajimasha). Jin Gu Oh directs the TV anime adaptation at animation studio OLM, with series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota, character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu and music by Takahiro Obata. The story of The Cat and the Dragon follows a fire-breathing, human-hating dragon raised by a mother cat in a forest. The dragon, known affectionately as "Uncle Wing," watches over the many curious cats — such as one that goes on an adventure with a human prince, and another that lives in the city and people-watches as a hobby — and gradually warms up to humans along the way.
