The upcoming TV anime based on the fantasy light novel series The Cat and the Dragon revealed a dragon's hoard of new information about the production today, including a teaser trailer, teaser art, a key cast member and the main staff. The series will broadcast in Japan beginning in July 2026. The Cat and the Dragon Teaser Trailer In the series, voice actor Takehito Koyasu plays Nekoryuu , a dragon who was raised by cats. Jin Gu Oh directs the TV anime adaptation at animation studio OLM, with series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota, character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu and music by Takahiro Obata. The Cat and the Dragon teaser art RELATED: The Cat and the Dragon Anime Adaptation Announced The original The Cat and the Dragon light novels began publication in September 2013 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website. Takarajimasha also publishes a print version of the series in Japan, with eight volumes released to date. Amara writes and Mai Okuma illustrates the series, and Izumi Sasaki provides the artwork for the manga adaptation (also published by Takarajimasha). The story of The Cat and the Dragon follows a fire-breathing, human-hating dragon raised by a mother cat in a forest. The dragon, known affectionately as "Uncle Wing," watches over the many curious cats — such as one that goes on an adventure with a human prince, and another that lives in the city and people-watches as a hobby — and gradually warms up to humans along the way.
