Kate Mara believes something extraterrestrial has followed her back to Earth in the trailer for The Astronaut.
Laurence Fishburne co-stars in the film, which lands in theaters on October 17 via Vertical.
When astronaut Sam Walker (Mara) crash lands back to Earth, she’s discovered alive in a punctured capsule off the Atlantic coast. General William Harris (Fishburne) places her in quarantine under strict NASA surveillance for rehabilitation and testing. But as disturbing events escalate, she begins to fear that something extraterrestrial has followed her home.
Writer-director Jess Varley (Phobias) makes her feature debut on the sci-f thriller.
Gabriel Luna, Ivana Milicevic, Macy Gray, and Scarlett Holmes round out the cast.
Brad Fuller (A Quiet Place, The Purge) produces alongside Eric B. Fleischman, Chris Abernathy, and Cameron Fuller.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review out of SXSW, “It’s a solid enough and well-crafted sci-fi thriller that crashes hard just as it begins to really take off.”
