Stephen Lang Thinks ‘Don’t Breathe 3’ Will Happen “To Make It Truly a Trilogy”

Stephen Lang is keeping hope alive for a third installment in the Don’t Breathe franchise.

“It’s a way off, and it’s not a certainty, but I do think that we are all kind of crawling in the same direction,” Lang told Dexerto.

“I know a lot of people would like it done within the structure of the business, so it’s a question of getting it right,” he continues. “Really getting it just right. Because the first one was perfect. The second one, I think, is very, very, cool. Somehow, the third one needs to tie it all up.”

Lang adds, “It needs to make it truly a trilogy. So I hope it’ll happen. I think it will.”

Directed by Fede Alvarez, Don’t Breathe was released in 2016. Co-writer Rodo Sayagues stepped into the director’s chair for Don’t Breathe 2 in 2021.

Lang starred as visually impaired Navy SEAL veteran Norman Nordstrom — better known as The Blind Man — in both films, transforming from villain to antihero in the process.

Sayagues hinted at the possibility a Don’t Breathe 3 involving Rocky, Jane Levy‘s character from the original film, while promoting the second installment.

“I think stories are never wrapped. If something is true about the first movie, is that there’s no closure on both ends,” Sayagues told ComicBook.com. “There was no closure for the story of Norman and there’s no closure for the story of Rocky. They both got away with a crime, both of them.”

He added, “Rocky stole a lot of money. And also, she let him get away with it. She could have called the police and [said], ‘Look, this guy has a dead girl in the cellar,’ and she did not. So both of them have a past that will haunt them. I think we’re going after the Blind Man first.”

Lang can next be seen in Sisu: Road to Revenge, in theaters November 21.
