MAGES., the developers behind the Science Adventure series, announced on their website that STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT , the remastered version of the hit visual novel, is taking a little more time in the PhoneWave than expected and has been delayed from this year to 2026. And no, you can’t use the Time Leap to travel to the future for it (time travel only works backwards after all!). The team explained the delay by stating that they are "currently developing [the game] with the aim of improving the overall quality to suit the current [gaming] environment, including increasing the resolution of the graphics and optimizing systems." To make up for the delay, MAGES. released a bunch of production art for the game, showing off new character designs, updated in-game character art for Kurisu, Faris NyanNyan and Mayushii NyanNyan, as well as places around Akihabara. The team said they used reference photos from the time to recreate the area's atmosphere and create backgrounds that could be indistinguishable from the original materials. RELATED: STEINS;GATE REBOOT Game Announced at 15th Anniversary Event The STEINS;GATE visual novel was originally released in Japan for Xbox 360 on October 15, 2009, and it has since been released for every other video game platform, including an updated anime version titled STEINS;GATE ELITE using footage from the anime adaptations. Crunchyroll currently streams the anime adaptations ( STEINS;GATE and Steins;Gate 0 ), and describes the story as such: Steins; Gate follows an eclectic group of individuals who have the ability to send text messages to the past. However throughout their experimentation process, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down. Now it’s a careful game of cat and mouse to not get caught and moreover, try to survive. Source: MAGES. on X (formerly Twitter)
