These gates led to dangerous magic beasts who, if allowed to enter our world, could do a lot of damage. At the same time, some humans gained magical abilities they could use to fight these monsters. This led to people becoming hunters who could use their skills to keep these beasts at bay. This is seen in the likes of the Jeju Island raid that took place three years before the start of Solo Leveling . This was a devastating battle against vicious ants that’ll play a big part in Solo Leveling Season 2. RELATED: Solo Leveling Most Hype Moments Solo Leveling centers on Sung Jinwoo, an E-Rank hunter who is trying to take care of his family, more specifically, his ailing mother who’s been in a coma for four years with the mysterious Eternal Sleep Disease. During one particular raid, the group he’s with ends up in a double dungeon. Cartenon Temple leaves very few survivors, but something peculiar happens to Jinwoo. A mysterious system reaches out to him, giving him a second chance and the ability to level up as he fights in dungeons. This is not something other hunters can do. While Solo Leveling Season 1 had 12 episodes, Solo Leveling Season 2 has 13 episodes, giving us an extra bit of Jinwoo goodness. This puts the Solo Leveling anime at 25 episodes for now. S-Rank hunter Hwang Dongsoo is searching for the one who killed his brother, Hwang Dongsuk . Jinwoo takes Jinah’s friend, Song-Yi , on a C-Rank raid. What could possibly go wrong? Surprise! The C-Rank gate turns into a red gate, making the dungeon more difficult. New Solo Leveling magic beasts introduced: ice bears and ice elves. Jinwoo summons Igris to take on the leader of the bears. It’s beary effective. Solo Leveling Episode 14, “I Suppose You Aren’t Aware” HIGHLIGHTS Hwang Dongsoo versus Baek Yoonho (briefly) Jinwoo can understand the magic beasts and speak their language. The ice elf leader, Barca, reveals that all magic beasts hear a voice in their heads that tells them to kill humans. Jinwoo gains a new shadow soldier and names him Iron. Jinwoo vs. Barca. Solo Leveling Episode 15, “Still A Long Way to Go” HIGHLIGHTS Jinwoo’s father, Sung Il-hwan, returns. Hwang Dongsoo vs. Il-hwan. Yoo Jinho wants to head the family guild, the Yoojin Guild. His request is granted (as long as he can get Jinwoo to join). Jinwoo returns to The Demon King’s Castle and is tasked with killing 10,000 magic beasts. Jinwoo’s shadow bear gets a name (Tank). Everyone wants to recruit Jinwoo, from Hunters Guild leader Choi Jong-in to Hunter’s Association chairman Go Gunhee. Jinwoo refuses all offers. Jinwoo takes a mining gig for an A-Rank mission. He sees Cha Hae-in in person for the first time. Solo Leveling Episode 17, “This Is What We’re Trained to Do” HIGHLIGHTS Cha Hae-in sniffs Jinwoo out. Literally. The high orcs answer to the mighty Kargalgan, who wants to meet with the humans. The group has no choice since they can’t dispel the portal. Jinho’s father collapses after falling victim to the Eternal Sleep Disease, the same disease Jinwoo’s mother has. Jinwoo continues his quest in The Demon King’s Castle. A winged ant appears in Japan. Solo Leveling Episode 20, “Looking Up Was Tiring Me Out” HIGHLIGHTS Jinwoo meets Esil Radiru, the demon knight he’d been fighting. She guides him through the dungeon. Chairman Go calls for a joint operation with Japan to raid Jeju Island. Jinwoo vs. Demon Monarch Baran (and his dragon Kaisellin) on the 100th floor.
