The official website for the fall 2025 TV anime Let's Play announced today that Japanese R&B singer Toshinobu Kubota will make a guest voice appearance in the anime's upcoming final Episode 12, "CONTINUE," scheduled to air in Japan on December 17. Kubota has provided both the anime's opening theme song "1, 2, Play" and ending theme song "Left & Right." This also marks his first time as a voice actor, playing himself as "Toshinobu Kubota." A video showing him recording was released. Kubota shared the following comments in a Q&A on the website: What were your thoughts after experiencing voice recording for the first time? Kubota: First of all, I'm truly sorry to the professional voice actors. The lines I was given were very, very few, but they were difficult. Especially while performing, I realized that playing myself — the character of Toshinobu Kubota — was the most difficult role. I suppose playing a role that's not myself would allow for more daring character development. Please share a message for your fans. Kubota: I had made for the anime: The opening theme is a stimulating and challenging piece, while the ending theme is the opposite — a lovely song. I believe both complement the diverse stories the anime presents, so I hope you'll enjoy listening to those aspects as well while watching the anime. Krecic's web comic Let’s Play premiered in Japan on October 1, 2025, on Fuji TV’s “+Ultra” programming block. Crunchyroll streams the anime to members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, India and Southeast Asia. Daiki Tomiyasu ( Pokémon Sun & Moon ) directs the series at studio OLM. Aya Matsui ( Marmalade Boy ) is handling the series composition, with Ebimo on the character design concept. Saki Ebisawa (key animation in multiple Pokémon anime) handles character design, with music composed by Cornish ( Recovery of an MMO Junkie ). The original web comic by Leeanne M. Krecic began in 2016 with three seasons released on WEBTOON. Rocketship Entertainment currently publishes the comic. The series is described as such: Samara “Sam” Young is a developer in Los Angeles who’s about to achieve her dreams with her first video game, Ruminate.
