From the mind of Greg Nicotero, special effects legend and executive producer of “The Walking Dead” and “Creepshow,” the horror competition series “Guts & Glory” had been set to premiere on Shudder yesterday, but Bloody Disgusting has learned that the series will now premiere closer to Halloween. Expect the first two episodes on October 14 on Shudder.
The new series will be a part of the streamer’s epic Season of Screams programming event which features a supersized lineup of new film releases, series, specials and live watch parties on Shudder TV. New episodes of “Guts & Glory” will roll out weekly on Tuesdays through the season’s two-episode finale, airing Tuesday, November 4.
Greg Nicotero serves as host and showrunner of the series, which he describes as “if ‘Survivor‘ and The Blair Witch Project had a baby.”
“Guts & Glory” flips the script on the traditional competition show – thrusting players into an immersive horror experience full of unexpected, genre-themed challenges.
The new series, which features an integrated sponsorship by Hyundai, blends the intensity of a horror film with the pressure of a reality show survival game, confronting the contestants’ fears, skill and intellect in various scenarios.
Players must survive the night or be eliminated in ways they never saw coming.
The series is an AMC Studios production. Executive producers include series showrunner Nicotero and Brian Witten from Monster Agency Productions, Chris Wagner from White Label, and Andrew Molina from Salaryman. Jeffrey F. January serves as co-executive producer.
