The official website and X (formerly Twitter) for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yuto Suzuki's Sakamoto Days manga series opened today, alongside releasing a teaser trailer and visual. The clip and visual reveal that Ren Meguro, a 28-year-old member of Japanese male idol group Snow Man, is cast as the protagonist, Taro Sakamoto. The site also announced that Yuichi Fukuda, best known for his work on the Gintama live-action series, is attached to direct as well as work on the screenplay. Action scenes will be supervised by Keiya Taguchi, who worked on the Attack on Titan live-action film series and Shin Kamen Rider . The two previously worked together on the UNDER NINJA live-action film. The Sakamoto Days live-action film is set to release in Japan during 2026’s Golden Week holiday , which falls between April 29 and May 6 next year. The anime adaptation directed by Masaki Watanabe ( Bartender ) at TMS Entertainment premiered in January 2025, with Netflix streaming. the series The manga releases weekly on the Shonen Jump app and through VIZ Media, who describes the series as such: Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld.
