While discussing her buzzy performance in One Battle After Another with Variety, Regina Hall opened up about returning for Scary Movie 6.
“I read the script — and it was really funny. I knew what they were intending to do,” said Hall. “I always think a work of art is in flux until it’s done and in someone’s hands — you just never know.”
Hall will be joined by fellow legacy cast members Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Chris Elliott, and Cheri Oteri.
Hall explains, “The original cast coming back was exciting. Having the Wayans involved again, and Anna Faris too — Brenda can’t live without Cindy. And she’s no better a friend to Cindy this time than she was before, even though they’re still best friends.”
She continues, “I think the nostalgia and timing just made it feel right. It was a good time to do something so broad and fun. I read the script and thought, ‘This is funny.’ And I think something is refreshing about doing something a little bit irreverent right now.”
Currently in production, the reboot of the horror spoof franchise is due out on June 12, 2026 via Paramount.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The ensemble cast also includes Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, Benny Zielke, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, and Heidi Gardner.
Marlon Wayans confirmed that Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heretic, Longlegs, Get Out, Nope, and Sinners are among the films being parodied in the new installment.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans brothers’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
