An official website and X account opened today revealed that a TV anime adaptation of Chie Shinohara's Red River manga is in production for a planned Summer 2026 broadcast. A teaser visual and commemorative artwork were unveiled, along with initial animation staff details. Its chapters were collected into 28 published tankobon volumes, and it was reported in 2019 that the series had over 20 million copies in circulation. Kosuke Kobayashi ( The Master of Ragnarök & Blesser of Einherjar ) directs the anime adaptation at studio Tatsunoko Production, with series composition by Yoriko Tomita ( The Elusive Samurai ) and character designs by Kenji Fujisaki ( Blood Lad ). Kimihito Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology are also on board as "historical researchers." Viz Media publishes the original manga in English and describes the story: Yuri, a teen of the 21st century, has been transported to ancient Anatolia as part of a scheme by the evil Nakia, Queen of the Hittites. Only the intervention of Nakia’s stepson, Prince Kail, saved Yuri from the Queen’s bloodthirsty intentions.
