Public Playtest Available Now for Brazilian Folk Horror Fishing Game ‘Drowned Lake’ [Trailer]

Developer Monumental Collab and publisher CRITICAL REFLEX have announced that their upcoming fishing survival horror title Drowned Lake has its first public playtest available now on Steam. The announcement accompanied a new trailer that premiered at the OTK Winter Games Expo, showcasing the terror that awaits players in the forests of Brazil.

Drowned Lake features a non-linear story that’s told from 3 perspectives: Carolina the reporter, Rafael the first responder, and Leonardo the old fisherman. Drawing from Brazil’s folklore, the story revolves around the mystery surrounding a student who went missing in Brazil’s Mata Atlântica. Search parties are also reporting strange noises and sightings in the area, with authorities urging people to stay away. As the lake’s dark past comes to light, so do the secrets buried deep within the three strangers, forcing them to confront both their inner demons and the sinister presence haunting the lake.

The playtest will have you navigating your boat through precarious hurdles and abandoned debris. The evidence is fragmented and scattered. You’ll need to fish out the clues in order to reveal the truth that lies behind the missing student’s disappearance. Your safety, for lack of a better term, is a fluid concept. Keep the noise low, don’t rush and stay quiet. You don’t want to let “her” know that you’re there.

To get your feet wet, Monumental Collab’s found-footage horror game TELEFORUM (which takes place in the same universe as Drowned Lake) is available to play for free.
