Developer Saikat Deb’s psychological horror title The 9th Charnel missed out on its fall release, but instead will kick off the new year with a January 30, 2026 launch for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. In addition to a digital release, the game will also be getting a physical edition.
To celebrate the release date announcement, The 9th Charnel has also received a brand-new trailer, showcasing a more in-depth look at the game’s sinister forces, eerie atmosphere, and the intense puzzles and encounters that await players.
Inspired by classic horror titles, The 9th Charnel follows Michael and his colleagues –Sara Whitlock and Daniel J. Hart– who are genetic scientists at The Epsilon Research Institute. As part of their curriculum, they decide to conduct research at the nearest wildlife sanctuary. However, after their car runs off the road, they become stranded in a remote valley. As Michael searches for his missing colleagues, he is drawn into a terrifying web of fanatical cults, forgotten rituals, and malevolent forces.
As the valley’s secrets unravel, survival grows even more desperate. Players will need to uncover the truth and determine the fate of the three scientists by confronting not only monstrous horrors but also the demons within. Scavenge what you need, carefully manage resources, and make choices that test your resolve. Evade enemies through stealth and cunning, or stand your ground when survival demands a fight.
