The official website for the upcoming anime film Entotsu-machi no Poupelle ~ Yakusoku no Tokeidai ~ (translated as “Poupelle of Chimney Town: The Promised Clocktower”) announced today the film is set to release in Japan on March 27, 2026, releasing a teaser trailer and visual. The STUDIO 4℃-animated film released in Japan in December 2020, making 2.7 billion yen (17.6 million USD) from its domestic run, becoming the 12th top-grossing film of 2021 in Japan. Masataka Kubota (Ken Kaneki in the Tokyo Ghoul live-action film series) is confirmed to reprise his role as the title character, Poupelle. 10-year-old child actor Yuzuna Nagase is newly cast as the human protagonist, Lubicchi, in place of the first film's Mana Ashida. The picture book's co-creator Akihiro Nishino serves as executive producer and provides a screenplay for the sequel. The first film's Yusuke Hirota continues to direct at STUDIO 4℃. The synopsis reads (translated): “I want to see you again.”✧˖° In a certain place, there stood a mysterious clock tower. Though not broken, it had stopped at 11:59. Lubicchi, a boy who had lost his dearest friend Poupelle, was consumed by grief. But one day, just as he was giving up on waiting and believing, and trying to move forward, he found himself lost in the otherworldly realm that controls time—“Millennium Fortress.” The only way back to his world was to “set the stopped clock tower moving”— Lubicchi's new great adventure begins now!
