Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise Anime Movie Reveals Teaser Trailer, Visual, Main Voice Cast

The official website for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Kazuyoshi Takeda's World War II manga Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise released a teaser trailer and visual today. As previously reported , the film is set to open in Japan on December 5, 2025. Rihito Itagaki (Norman in THE PROMISED NEVERLAND live-action film) voices Hiroshi Tamaru, a kind-hearted aspiring manga artist, while Tomoya Nakamura (Dmitri in SPY×FAMILY CODE: White ) voices Tamaru's reliable partner, Keisuke Yoshiki. "Being involved in this work in the 80th anniversary year since the end of the war, and having the opportunity to breathe life into the character of Hiroshi Tamaru, I feel a great sense of meaning and responsibility," said Iatagaki. Nakamura added in a comment, "80 years since the end of the war. Ryoji Namamura serves as the character designer and chief animation director, and Kenji Kawai provides music. Shin-Ei Animation and Fugaku handle the animation production. Kazuyoshi Takeda's original Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise manga was serialized in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine from February 2016 to April 2021, releasing 11 collected volumes in total. The manga won the Japan Cartoonists Association Award's Excellence Award in 2017. The synopsis reads: The island of Peleliu. A paradise on earth where the Japanese soldier Tamaru, a draftsman in civilian life, disembarked in the summer of 1944, at the end of the Pacific War. The Eden turns into hell when the American fleet decides to invest it… 50,000 Japanese and American soldiers kill each other around an airport considered strategic at the time. The American army dispatched 40,000 elite soldiers, while the Japanese army faced up to the situation with a reserve of 10,000 soldiers, having received orders to resist to the last.
