ONE PIECE Gears Up With 26th Anime Anniversary Illustration

On a special October 20 day in 1999, Luffy set sail in a barrel to look for the One Piece in the first episode of Eiichiro Oda’s epic manga series adaptation. Twenty-six years later, that journey continues every Sunday night on Japanese TV screens and through streaming services worldwide, bringing people together as the Straw Hat crew travel down The Grand Line searching for the treasure that will hopefully free the world. To celebrate the momentous occasion, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the series released a special illustration of Gear 5 Luffy by long-time series animator Masayuki Sato, who did key animation on the original opening for the anime series as well as character designs and chief animation direction on all the movies in the ONE PIECE Film series.
