Nintendo confirmed today through a press release that the Nintendo Switch 2, which was released on Thursday last week around the world, had sold over 3.5 million consoles in the first four days on sale. This makes it the biggest launch in the company’s history and the biggest in video game history, outshining the original Switch and PlayStation 4 and 5. According to Nintendo, the lifetime sales of the Wii U are 13.56 million consoles , and the Switch 2 has already reached 25% of that number in just an extended weekend. It took around two months for the original Switch to reach 3.5 million units with much less stock available. Compared to PlayStation, the PlayStation 4 was the previous biggest video game launch with 2.1 consoles sold in two weeks and 4.5 million in six weeks. The PlayStation 5 matches the 4.5 million consoles sold number in the same timeframe , under heavy supply issues, according to Sony , with 3.4 million in the first four weeks .
