Echo On Publications has published official novelizations of two ’80s cult classics: Night of the Comet and Witchboard.
Both books are written by Echo On editor-in-chief Christian Francis, who has authored such novelizations as In the Mouth of Madness, Wishmaster, and Tremors.
In Night of the Comet, the world was supposed to celebrate a celestial event. Instead, disaster struck. When the comet passed, billions vanished overnight, leaving behind only red dust and abandoned cities.
Teen sisters Regina and Samantha Belmont wake up to an empty Los Angeles. At first, it seems like paradise… no school, no parents, and an entire city to themselves. But something doesn’t feel right. Everything has gone silent. The streets are still. And the deeper they look, the more unsettling the truth becomes.
As they search the city and make sense of what happened, they soon discover that they are not alone. Some people had escaped the comet’s glare, but not all of them are friendly. Survival will take more than luck… it will take strategy, willing and a whole lot of firepower.
The novel includes an introduction by the writer-director Thom Eberhardt and an interview with stars Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney.
In Witchboard, when Linda Brewster agrees to try a Ouija board at a party, she never imagines it will open a door to terror. But what starts as a harmless game quickly becomes a living nightmare as the spirit she contacts seems friendly-at first. Soon, unexplained accidents, terrifying visions, and sinister forces invade her life.
As her boyfriend Jim and his estranged friend Brandon are drawn into the mystery, they realize the spirit’s intentions are far from benign. Together, they must unravel the secrets behind the board before Linda-and everyone she loves-falls victim to an evil beyond imagining.
The novel is said to be “deeper, darker, and more chilling” than the film, which was written and directed by Kevin Tenney.
