Filming is now underway on Netflix’s untitled sea creature series set in Newfoundland, and THR announced today that Natasha Henstridge and Joshua Close have joined the cast.
The untitled series is created by showrunner Jesse McKeown (“The Umbrella Academy”).
The limited series follows a grizzled fisherman who must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town.
Henstridge and Close join previously announced cast members Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Speak No Evil), Charlie Heaton (“Stranger Things”), and Josh Hartnett (Trap) as the grizzled fisherman fighting to protect his community against the aquatic threat. Henstridge plays a character named Jan in the upcoming series, and Close will play Officer Jaxon Noseworthy.
For horror fans, Close is best known for his work in horror films In Their Skin, Diary of the Dead, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Henstridge most recently appeared in this summer’s House of Abraham and is best known for her roles in Species and Ghosts of Mars.
McKeown serves as showrunner in addition to executive producing alongside Hartnett, Childs, Jessica Rhoades (“Black Mirror”), Louise Sutton (“Black Mirror”), Chris Hatcher (“Shadowhunters”), and Sharon Hall (“The Expanse”).
The six-episode series is currently being shot on location in Newfoundland, Canada.
Here’s to hoping this sea creature series gets a proper title soon. Stay tuned.
