There’s more to an apartment building than meets the eye in the Spanish horror fantasy movie Under Your Feet, from writer/director Cristian Bernard.
Under Your Feet stars Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth) and Goya winner Sofia Otero.
The horror fantasy film is described as “Rosemary’s Baby meets Hansel & Gretel,” and hails from producer Carlos Juarez (The Platform) of Basque Films and FilmSharks’ Guido Rud, with the participation of Netflix Spain and Spanish public broadcaster RTVE.
In Under Your Feet, Isabel moves with her two children into a very prestigious building that has a very peculiar admission method, but at a very affordable rental fee. Once approved and settled, three elderly neighbors from the lower floor will turn their lives upside down.”
“This is a remarkably exquisite and visually sophisticated cinematic gem that aims to target fantasy/adventure lovers, especially audiences that are looking for stories that resemble the cinema we all fell in love with, like The Goonies, Super 8, and Stranger Things,“ said Rud, who noted that its remake appeal is high.
Rud’s FilmSharks is keeping very busy in the genre space; the label also has creature feature Pacifico and satanic horror The Convent on the way.
“We truly found in Bilbao and its architecture an ideal setting to tell this very atmospheric, classic horror story,“ said Juárez of the film’s production.
After getting initially announced in 2017, Bernard’s Spanish horror fantasy movie made its world premiere earlier this week at the Tallinn Black Nights Festival. Stay tuned for distribution news, but a target release is being eyed for the first quarter of 2026.
In the meantime, check out the first images and artwork as something not quite human prepares to get Under Your Feet.
