The upcoming film Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved has just announced a new cast member with a very relevant surname. Legendary enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi will be joining the cast! Kobayashi has been performing since 1963, with activities spanning a variety of media. In addition to her singing career, she was the voice behind the VOCALOID4 voice bank "Sachiko." She also had a brief stint as a VTuber under the name Virtual Grandmother Sachiko Kobayashi, during which she performed a duet with Kizuna AI. Now, Kobayashi will be appearing as the dragon army leader Felicitas, pictured above. She was also previously announced as the anime film's ending song performer . Kobayashi appeared at today's stage greeting for the upcoming film. She mentioned that this role is a highlight of her 61 years in the industry, as it's her first time playing a dragon. Fans can hear her new role and her ending song when the film premieres in Japan on June 27. Tatsuya Ishihara directs the film at animation studio Kyoto Animation. Yuka Yamada provides the script and Miku Kadowaki provides the character designs and serves as chief animation director. Crunchyroll describes Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid : Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not.
