Memories Anthology Anime Film Gets 30th Anniversary Visual, More Screenings

Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1995 anthology project Memories is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the three anime short films are being screened in Japan over the Winter season, including a special one-week-only 35mm film screening in Ikebukuro in January. A brand new visual was created to commemorate the anniversary screenings. Memories Anthology Anime Film 30th Anniversary Visual Memories ’ 4K remaster will be screened at the following theaters across Japan: Tochigi Cinema Roble from December 26 Tokyo Morc Asagaya from December 12 CINEMA NEKO from December 12 Shin Bungeiza in 35mm from January 17 to 21 Shizuoka Shizuoka Cine Gallery from December 5 Hyogo Yebisu Cinema, Sumoto Orion from November 28 to December 7 Oita Oita Cinema 5 from November 29 Kagoshima Gardens Cinema from December 15 for one week RELATED: MEMORIES Sci-Fi Anime Anthology Film Gets 4K Revival Screenings Memories is a three-film anthology produced by Akira ’s Katsuhiro Otomo based on his own works. Koji Morimoto directed Magnetic Rose at Studio 4°C from a script by Satoshi Kon. Tensai Okamura directed Stink Bomb at MADHOUSE with a script by Katsuhiro Otomo. Cannon Fodder was directed and written by Otomo at Studio 4°C. The anthology was initially released in Japan on December 23, 1995 to critical acclaim, particularly for Magnetic Rose .
