The next anime film from legendary anime creator Shoji Kawamori, Meikyu no Shiori (translated to "Shiori of the Labyrinth") released a new trailer today, revealing a January 1, 2026 premiere date in Japan and a brand new cast member — timelesz boy band member Takuto Teranishi in his first-ever voice acting role. Meikyu no Shiori Trailer 2 Takuto Teranishi joins the cast as Suguru Kagami, a university student who is researching how to connect smartphones to the human brain directly, as well as being a young entrepreneur who attracts a lot of international attention. Director Kawamori has already praised Teranishi's work, saying, "I had seen his work on the stage before and was impressed by the breadth of his acting. Suguru is a mysterious and ambitious man, and it's a difficult role to play … [but] he charmingly portrayed the character's complex emotions." Suguru's character visual was released alongside Teranishi in the voice acting booth with fellow cast member and ATRASHII GAKKO's vocalist SUZUKA, who also makes her anime voice acting debut with this film. Risa Ebata ( Macross Frontier ) provides the character designs and Taichi Hashimoto ( revisions composition) pens the script. The synopsis reads as such (translated): Shiori Maezawa is an ordinary high school girl who could be found anywhere. One day, her smartphone suddenly breaks, and when she realizes, she finds herself in another world where no one else exists—in Yokohama. When she looks at her smartphone, she sees photos of herself that she doesn't recognize posted on her social media. Who is in the photos that were posted?
