Home video distributors MediaOCD and AnimEigo announced a pair of new anime licenses today alongside a surprising live-action pickup. In the case of the former, both Master of Martial Hearts and Sketchbook ~full color’S~ are due out on Blu-ray later this year. In non-anime acquisitions, MediaOCD also announced plans to release Zhang Yimou’s directorial debut, Red Sorghum , which originally opened in China in 1988. The film was recently restored, and MediaOCD will release it on Blu-ray later this year. Here’s how MediaOCD describes the new licenses: Master of Martial Hearts (A.K.A. Zettai Shougeki: Platonic Heart) Funimation once marketed this as a T&A show, but it's far weirder than that. In fact, it gets UNCOMFORTABLY dark by the end. Tongue fully in cheek, it's a camp classic. Sketchbook ~full color'S~ A gorgeous slice-of-life in a school art club, written by Mari Okada and supervised by Junichi Sato. and a VERY unexpected live action announcement… Red Sorghum The groundbreaking directorial debut of Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), and Winner of the Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival. This was recently restored in China, and we can't believe that we were able to get it. Source: MediaOCD
