Ahead of “The Creep Tapes” return to Shudder on November 14, creators Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice have confirmed they still plan to make Creep 3.
“We will make a Creep 3. But we want Creep 3 to kind of be a defining end of a sentence,” Brice told The Direct at Fantastic Fest. “It should be something that closes things up.”
“I think Patrick and I were a little paralyzed after we made Creep 2 to make Creep 3,” Duplass adds. “They were so successful. And when I say successful, I mean the core fans loved them so much. We really didn’t want to make anything unless we felt like it could match or in some ways supersede that, you know?”
The format of the “The Creep Tapes” afforded them the freedom to return to the universe without the pressure of a feature.
“Formalistically, there’s more chaos involved in the television show than in the movies,” Duplass explains. “When you’re trying to wrangle something that’s about 30 minutes, it allows you to strike out more daringly and you can make a lot of different stories, and different types of stories work in that format, which is really good.”
Season 2 of “The Creep Tapes” features six episodes co-written by Duplass and Brice, with Duplass starring and Brice directing.
It continues to expose a collection of video tapes from the secret vault of the world’s deadliest and most socially uncomfortable serial killer. As the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intentions surface with his increasingly odd behavior and the victims will learn they may have made a deadly mistake.
Guest stars include David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Robert Longstreet (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Katie Aselton (“Legion”), Diego Josef (There’s Someone Inside Your House), Desean Terry (“The Morning Show”), Alec Bewkes, Linas Phillips (Spree), Taylor Garron (“Abbott Elementary”), Timm Sharp (M3GAN 2.0), Jody Lambert, and Jeff Man.
