The official website for Mamoru Hosoda's new anime feature film Scarlet ("Hateshinaki Scarlet" in Japan) announced that Mana Ashida, who voices the protagonist Scarlet, also performs the film's ending theme song "Hateshinaki" ("Endless"). The lyrics for the song were also written by director Hosoda himself. The site also posted a new special trailer featuring the ending theme song below. She has also gained experience as a voice actor, and her previous anime leading roles include Ruka Azumi in Children of the Sea (2019) and Yui in The House of the Lost on the Cape (2021). Mamoru Hosoda writes and directs Scarlet , with Studio Chizu providing production and planning. The film releases in theaters in Japan on November 21, and in theaters in the United States on December 12.
