Madeleine Coghlan, Chris Sullivan, Taryn Manning, Kevin Keppy to Star in Psychological Horror ‘Puppet’

Madeleine Coghlan (“The Rookie”), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), Taryn Manning (“Orange Is the New Black”), and Kevin Keppy (Smile) will star in the psychological horror film Puppet, Deadline reports.

Nick Peterson (Patient Seven) is directing from his own script, loosely based on his 1999 stop-motion short MuM.

The film follows Ash, a young woman haunted by the psychological and emotional grip of her abusive husband. When her reality begins to unravel, Ash finds herself trapped inside a surreal dreamscape filled with masks, puppets, and shifting illusions.

Within this nightmare world, distorted reflections of her family and marriage manifest as sinister figures that torment and manipulate her.

Forced to navigate this harrowing labyrinth of false saviors and predators, Ash’s struggle becomes not only about survival, but about reclaiming her voice and breaking free from cycles of harm that threaten to consume her completely.

“Drawing from my own life and family, this film examines cycles of harm and the possibility of change,” said Peterson. “I wanted to create an experience that is both unsettling and deeply emotional, reflecting the darkness of these cycles while holding onto the hope of breaking free.”

Sean Patrick Burke of 222 Pictures will produce with Charlie Jacobson acting as executive producer.

“I’m thrilled to be producing Puppet alongside such an incredible team,” Burke commented. “Nick has crafted a deeply original and resonant story, and I believe the film’s unique vision will connect with audiences in a powerful way.”

Puppet is set to enter production in Los Angeles in January.
