A new video released on the Made in Abyss anime's official accounts today confirmed that the first part in the previously announced film series, subtitled "Mezameru Shinpi" ("Awakening Mystery"), will be screened in Japanese theaters in Fall 2026 . The film series has Masayuki Kojima as director once again alongside returning writer Hideyuki Kurata and character designers Kazuchika Kise and Yuka Kuroda. Kinema Citrus is once again on animation production, and the cast also returns from the TV anime.
