PlayStation and Xbox players in need of a Lovecraftian fix need not be envious of PC gamers any more. Three months after its release on Steam, Polden and developer Solarsuit Games have released Static Dread: The Lighthouse for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the Xbox Series and Xbox One.
Static Dread: The Lighthouse casts you as a lone lighthouse keeper, who must maintain the beacon of an ancient lighthouse after calamity has befallen the world. But beware, as seafarers have reported encounters with creatures beyond the reach of science, and ships have been drifting back from distant waters completely empty, their crews vanished without a trace.
As your duties grow more perilous with each night, the fate of the nearby town and passing vessels are in your hands. You’ll meet a variety of odd characters, many of whom whisper prayers to sea gods and perform rituals to raise the dead. Your choices will determine their fate. Survive the Lovecraftian terrors, and use your radio to guide the ships entrusted to you through the abyss, and don’t let the shadows consume you.
Solarsuit Games aren’t done dabbling in Lovecraft. They announced a second entry in the Static Dread universe back in October with Static Dread: The Submarine, which is currently in development for release on Steam.
