Tales from Beyond the Pale, the horror audio drama anthology series created by filmmakers Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Habit) and Glenn McQuaid (V/H/S, I Sell the Dead), is returning for a sixth season.
Listen to a teaser for the first new tale, “The Host,” below. It’s directed by Fessenden, written and scored by McQuaid, and stars Jaxon Bartok and Leon Barrett.
It will be released on November 13 on all podcast platforms, with new episodes following every second Thursday of the month. The line-up includes:
- “The Slaughtered” by filmmaker Joe Maggio (Bitter Feast)
- “Orpheus” by filmmaker Jenn Wexler (The Ranger, The Sacrifice Game)
- “The Next Voice You Hear Will Be Your Own” by filmmaker Emily Bennett (Alone with You)
- “Super” by actor Rigo Garay (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”)
- “Three Raps on the Buoy” by Glenn Mcquaid
- “Madge, the World Spider, and One Last Drink” by author Richard Newby (We Make Monsters Here)
- “Fox Hunt” by author Craig Ian Mann (Phases of the Moon)
- “Everything Must Go” by filmmaker Ted Geoghegan (We Are Still Here, Brooklyn 45)
Also in the pipeline are new tales from Fessenden, filmmakers Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Mayhem), Graham Reznick (Deadwax, Until Dawn), Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound, There’s Something Wrong with the Children), and authors Clay McCleod Chapman (Ghost Eaters) and April Snellings (Food Chain).
The voice casts include James Le Gros, Barbara Crampton, Alex Hurt, Emily Bennett, John Speredakos, Jeremy Holm, Rigo Garay, Lorraine Farris, Bill Sage, Kareem Savinon, Chloë Levine, Asta Paredes, Clay von Carlowitz, Xero Gravity, David Cardoza, Dante Fiallo, Romanichel, and Benjamin Frankenberg.
“Here we are, a little older, none the wiser, and once again trudging beyond the pale with a brand-new collection of Tales,” says McQuaid. “This season gathers some of the sharpest, strangest, and most brilliant writers we’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. The mics are hot, the celery’s snapping, and the tape is rolling.”
“It’s delightful to be back making mischief with artisans old and new,” Fessenden adds. “In a time when mounting a movie is so arduous, it’s fun and essential to be able to tell stories in a more spontaneous format.”
For Season 6, Fessenden and McQuaid have joined forces with producer Jordan Gass-Pooré, with primary recording and mixing by Matt Rocker of Underground Audio. Brian Level designed the poster below.
The series’ returning theme is composed by Jeff Grace. Musical collaborators McQuaid, Reznick, and Dave Eggar also make multiple contributions.
Launched in 2019, Tales from Beyond the Pale already has 47 audio dramas under its belt. The first five seasons are streaming now.
