Kino's Journey -the Beautiful World- Series Launches 25th Anniversary Project

Japanese publisher KADOKAWA has announced the launch of the 25th anniversary project for Keiichi Sigsawa's Kino's Journey —the Beautiful World— light novel series. The series is the author's debut work and the project also includes the 25th anniversary for his professional novelist debut. The series has been released from the publisher's Dengeki Bunko imprint since March 2000, and its main series has released 23 volumes to date. It has been widely adapted to manga, TV anime series, anime film, games, and stage plays. As the first phase of the six-month project, “Kino's Journey the Beautiful World 25th Anniversary POP UP SHOP” will be held at the event space on the eighth floor of the Yurakucho Marui department store in Tokyo from August 16 to 31, 2025. To commemorate the 25th anniversary, the shop will offer various merchandises using illustrations newly drawn by the novel series' original illustrator, Kouhaku Kuroboshi, and also display life-size standee panels of the characters. Additionally, the long-awaited next 24th volume of the Kino's Journey -the Beautiful World- novel series is set to release from Dengeki Bunko on September 10, 2025. It will have been four years and ten months since the release of the previous 23rd volume in November 2020. Also, on September 10, the same day as the release of the 24th volume, a completely new novel series by the author Keiichi Sigsawa will begin serialization on the Dengeki Novecomi+ website. The novel's content and genre are unknown, but it consists entirely of telephone conversations. The project has many more phases planned for October and beyond. Crunchyroll, which is streaming the second TV anime , describes the synopsis as such: "The world is not beautiful, therefore it is." A story about Kino, who travels around the world with nothing but guns for protection and the talking motorcycle Hermes. Kino travels to many mystical worlds, each with its unique customs and people, and learns about the world through their stories, at times conjuring humor and inspiration or other times piercing cynicism. However, Kino's own custom is to stay no longer than three days in every town without exception, as it is enough time to learn almost everything important about the place while still leaving time to explore new lands.
