January 26, 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Yasuhisa Hara's historical adventure manga, Kingdom . To celebrate the anniversary, a new piece of artwork illustrated by Hara and a special video were released for the series, alongside the news of additional projects. Kingdom Manga 20th Anniversary Special Video Kingdom 20th anniversary art The series also announced additional projects to celebrate Kingdom 's 20th anniversary, including a short drama series titled “Believe Your Kingdom” depicting stories of readers inspired by the Kingdom series, a collaboration campaign with Sapporo Beer, the first 20 volumes available to read for free in Japan, a special edition Kingdom magazine issue with interviews and articles looking back at the history of the series, a new manga boxe set and a “general election” where readers can vote on their favorite moments in the manga. Kingdom began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump manga magazine in January 2006, with 78 volumes published in Japan to date. VIZ Media publishes an English-language version of the series. Kingdom has also been adapted into several live-action films, as well as an ongoing TV anime. Crunchyroll streams the Kingdom TV anime, and describes the story: Xin and Piao are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Piao is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured.
