The official website for Japanese company CHOCOLATE Inc.'s upcoming original anime feature film KILLTUBE released a new key visual today. The visual depicts the film's three protagonists—Musashi, Kikuchiyo and Leonardo—fleeing the streets of Shibuya. New Key Visual The film's official YouTube channel has also posted a video to introduce the film's three main voice cast members: Musashi voiced by Yui Tsukada (Yayoi in OKITSURA: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Know What She's Saying ) Kikuchiyo voiced by Kengo Kawanishi (Mikazuki Augus in Mobile Suit GUNDAM Iron Blooded Orphans ) Leonardo voiced by Ayane Sakura (Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia ) Comment from Yui Tsukada: When I got the call saying, “You’ve been cast as Musashi,” I was so overwhelmed with surprise and emotion that I literally ran laps around my house. Landing the role of a dream protagonist, in a dream boy’s story, in a dream theatrical project—three dreams coming true all at once—was a moment of pure exhilaration I’ll never forget. I told myself: this will change my life, and I will change my life. From the moment I auditioned for Musashi, I felt a sense of freedom that came from his honesty and straightforwardness. It was such a fun and memorable audition experience. I’m determined to enjoy playing this role all the way to the end. Let’s go to the top, Musashi. Comment from Kengo Kawanishi: I’m honored to be voicing Kikuchiyo in KILLTUBE. As part of the release, I had the opportunity to take promotional photos and engage in passionate discussions with the director about the direction of the project. It’s being created through a bold and original approach unlike anything we’ve seen before. I truly hope you’re looking forward to this exciting new endeavor. Comment from Ayane Sakura: I’ve always been a huge fan of Director Kuribayashi’s visual work and have followed his projects closely—so I never imagined I’d get the chance to be part of KILLTUBE. Isn’t it amazing to think that the same quality as the pilot movie will be playing on the big screen throughout the whole film? I’m already looking forward to seeing Director Kuribayashi’s powerful visuals come alive in theaters. Leonard is cool and cute. During the audition, I found myself stripping the performance down to its essence, and that really left an impression on me. I hope many people will come to love this film and support it. Additionally, the channel is also streaming a first clip of the "Actively In-Progress" preview video series. The original theatrical anime project KILLTUBE was revealed in April 2024. The film is directed by Kazuaki Kuribayashi, known for his carious commercials and music video works, and is slated for completion in 2026. The synopsis reads: Set in a world where the Edo period never ended. A huge city filled with skyscrapers reaching into the sky in this country where its coasts are all lined with walls as its isolation from the rest of the world continues. Everyone's statuses are split between level 1 through 7 and your home, occupation, and food are determined by your status forever. But there is just one way to change your status, and that is the duel streaming app "KILLTUBE." If you keep winning battles and become popular, you can raise your level according to the number of people who have subscribed to you. The Shogun Ieyasu gave the common folk hope by telling them, "Let us dream with KILLTUBE!" At the very bottom of this world, a boy named Musashi, who was raised by dogs, appears. Musashi has a mentor named Manjiro, who is known as a felon. Musashi came to Edo, the capital, with the words that his mentor once told him, "There is something incredible at the highest point of Edo” deep within his heart. Musashi meets the cunning yet likeable producer Kikuchiyo and the genius inventor Leonardo, and ends up joining KILLTUBE—though somewhat under false pretenses. Initially ridiculed, his unconventional fighting style gradually captivates the audience. As the three climb the ranks and become the talk of the nation, their explosive success seems unstoppable. But just as they reach their peak, they are forced to confront a hidden truth buried deep within the KILLTUBE system—and the very society that celebrates them.
