Kamen no Ninja Akakage Live-Action TV Drama Debuts in October 2025

Mitsuteru Yokoyama's classic ninja manga Kamen no Ninja Akakage (“Red Shadow, the Masked Ninja”) is being adapted into a live-action TV drama with direction by Takashi Miike ( Audition , Nyaight of the Living Cat ) and screenplays by Yusuke Watanabe ( The Fable ). Taiki Sato of EXILE / FANTASTICS stars in the leading role as Akakage . The series will broadcast on the TV Asahi beginning on October 26. Shogakukan serialized the original Kamen no Ninja Akakage manga from 1966 – 1967 in their Weekly Shonen Sunday manga magazine, and the series was collected in three tankobon volumes in Japan. The series was also previously adapted into a live-action TV drama that broadcast for 52 episodes on Kansai TV and Fuji TV from April 1967 to March 1968. The story follows Akakage, a ninja from the city of Hida in Edo era Japan. Together with his fellow good ninja, Akakage uses his incredible skills to combat monsters and fight evil ninja during a period of warfare and strife.
