Japan Box Office: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Holds No.1 for 5th Weekend

The top four films at the Japanese box office for the weekend of October 17-19 remained unchanged from last weekend, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha . Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc stayed in first place, earning 582 million yen (3.86 million USD) on 375,000 admissions in its fifth weekend. It was only 9.5% down from last weekend, but enough to keep the film at the top spot now for five consecutive weekends since its release on September 19. Reze Arc 's cumulative total domestic gross has reached 6.5 billion yen (43.1 million USD) on 4.26 million admissions. With this, anime films have now stayed on top of the Japanese box office for 14 consecutive weekends from July 22. The live-action film adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's 2007 anime film 5 Centimeters per Second also remained in second place in its second weekend, making 283 million yen (1.88 million USD) on 198,000 admissions (a 20.6% week-on-week drop). After two weekends of release, the film has earned a cumulative of one billion yen (6.64 million USD) on 710,000 admissions domestically. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle stayed in third place, while adding 255 million yen (1.69 million USD) on 157,000 admissions. It has now brought its 94-day domestic total to 36.7 billion yen (243.5 million USD) on 25.33 million admissions. Infinity Castle still ranks second in the all-time box office ranking in Japan and still needs four billion yen more to reach the top-grossing film, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train with a 40.75 billion yen (270 million USD) box office record. After making a sixth place debut last weekend, Aikatsu! x Pripara THE MOVIE -Deai no Kiseki!- went down three places to ninth in its second weekend. The second live-action theatrical film adaptation of Kaiji Kawaguchi's manga The Silent Service ( Chinmoku no Kantai in Japan), subtitled "Hokkyokukai Daikaisen" (translated to "The Great Sea Battle of The Arctic Ocean"), ranked 10th in its fourth weekend, down two positions from last weekend. While disappearing from the Top 10 in its fourth weekend, the anime film adaptation of Uoto's ( Orb: On the Movements of the Earth ) sports manga 100 METERS surpassed 500 million yen (3.31 million USD) in gross on 360,000 admissions in 31 days since its release on September 19, according to the film's official X (formerly Twitter) account and Mantan Web . Following its release in Hong Kong and Macau in early October, the film will also open in theaters across Taiwan, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and more countries. Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 , the two-part anime film based on Chainsaw Man and Look Back manga author Tatsuki Fujimoto's eight original one-shot stories, simultaneously released as "Part 1" and "Part 2" in nine Japanese theaters on October 17 for a limited run of two weeks. While it did not appear in either the overall Top 10 or the mini-theater ranking , "Part 2" topped Filmarks' first-day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 4.11/5.0 based on 325 reviews, with "Part 1" following in second with 4.02/5.0 on 364 reviews.
