Inherit the Winds Stage Play Gets Original Anime Adaptation

The popular Japanese stage play quadrilogy, the Tachikawa Jinsuke series, is coming to anime for the first time. The first story, Inherit the Winds, gets an original anime adaptation, with the lead playwright penning the script. The adaptation was announced today during the Aniplex Online Fest, with the first trailer and a motion teaser visual. Inherit the Winds Anime Teaser Trailer and Visual RELATED: The Elusive Samurai Anime Continues with Second Season The Tachikawa Jinsuke series is a set of four period stage plays performed by the theatre group Caramel Box since 1996. The original stories, set in the time around the Meiji Restoration, follow the fictional Shinsengumi soldier Jinsuke Tachikawa as he lives in a rapidly changing Japan. Inherit the Winds introduces Tachikawa as he enters the war and deals with the ramifications of the Kinmon incident. The stories are penned by playwrights Yutaka Narui and Azuki Mashiba. Tomohiro Kawamura will direct the anime adaptation at Live2d Creative Studio and Drive Inc., with Narui returning to pen the script.
