Ikoku Nikki Anime Adds Junichi Suwabe and More to Cast, Reveals Theme Songs

Josei manga Ikoku Nikki will premiere as an anime in January 2026. In the run-up to its debut, four more voice actors have joined the cast, led ( as previously announced ) by Miyuki Sawashiro (Fujiko Mine in Lupin the 3rd ) as Makio Koudai and Fuko Mori (in her first major anime role) as Asa Takumi. Joining the cast will be: Shingo Kasamachi voiced by Junichi Suwabe (Sukuna in JUJUTSU KAISEN ) Emiri Nara voiced by Sumire Morohoshi (Emma in The Promised Neverland ) Nana Daigo voiced by Eriko Matsui (Shiro in I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince ) Kazunari Tono voiced by Takashi Kondo (Kauss Laforg in Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! ) Art for each new character accompanies the casting announcement: Shingo Kasamachi / Junichi Suwabe Emiri Nara / Sumire Morohoshi Nana Daigo / Eriko Matsui Kazunari Tono / Takashi Kondo Opening and ending song details were also announced. The anime will open to “Sonare” by TOMOO, and it will close to “Kotozute” by Bialystocks. Miyuki Ooshiro directs the Ikoku Nikki TV anime at animation studio Shuka. Kohei Kiyasu provides the series composition and scripts, Kenji Hayama provides the character designs and Kensuke Ushio provides the music. The story of Ikoku Nikki follows Makio Koudai, a 35-year-old novelist who is shy and socially awkward and who lives a solitary life. Makio's life begins to change when her older sister and her brother-in-law are killed in a traffic accident, prompting Makio to take in Asa Takumi, her 15-year-old niece. Asa has a friendly and straightforward personality, so the two initially have some trouble connecting, but eventually their relationship grows into something unique and irreplaceable.
